Technical Sales Rep - Process Instrumentation 1708
We are a world leader in laboratory equipment and services offering a fantastic opportunity for a Technical Sales Representative specializing in analytical instrumentation used in R&D laboratories. This role focuses on managing and growing sales within the regions of NJ, NY, and New England, ideally suited for a candidate based in the Boston area but flexible to those near major airports. Compensation: Base salary range is $86,000/y to $97,000/y based on experience, with an uncapped commission plan that pays monthly from dollar one and accelerates after reaching sales goals. Benefits include a monthly car allowance, mileage reimbursement, full health benefits, profit sharing bonuses, and a significant anniversary bonus.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Establish and develop relationships with potential and existing clients in the analytical instrumentation market.
  • Identify and understand customer needs and requirements to promote company products effectively.
  • Perform demonstrations of technical products to clients and at trade shows.
  • Stay abreast of market trends and technological developments in laboratory equipment.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations that explain products or services to customers and prospective customers.
  • Collaborate with sales teams to understand customer requirements, to promote the sale of company products, and to provide sales support.
  • Confer with customers and engineers to assess equipment needs and to determine system requirements.
  • Plan and modify product configurations to meet customer needs.
  • Maintain records of customer communications and contact information for sales and prospecting activities.
  • Secure and renew orders and arrange delivery.
  • Train customers on how to use and maintain their equipment.

    Minimum Position Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Natural Sciences or Engineering.
    • Experience of at least 2 years in sales, particularly capital equipment or analytical/process instruments.
    • Strong written, oral communication, and presentation skills.
    • Independence in managing projects and commitments focusing on customer satisfaction.
    • Ability and willingness to travel overnight 50-60% of the time.
    • Valid driver's license and passport.

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Proven track record of achieving sales quotas.
      • Experience in the laboratory equipment or analytical instrumentation industry.
      • Technical proficiency with various types of lab instrumentation and software.

        Skills:

        • Strategic planning and thinking to understand and penetrate the analytical and process instrumentation market.
        • Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills.
        • High level of motivation and self-direction.
        • Robust analytical skills to understand complex technical issues.
        • Effective time management to multitask and prioritize tasks.
